Albert Tholen is a creative producer and editor based in New York City. He’s produced multiple short fiction films, including Bruiser (Sundance 2021, SXSW 2021), The Chicken (Locarno 2020, New York Film Festival 2020, AFI Fest 2020), The Rat (Sundance 2019, Palm Springs Int’l ShortsFest 2019), and Magic Hour (Tribeca 2020), starring Indya Moore. He produced feature-length concert film, BRMWWV, of Jason Moran and Suga Dairo’s improvised piano “battle” set in Steinway & Son’s Astoria, NY factory. Among other music video work, he produced and edited Ryuichi Sakamoto’s “Energy Flow” and produced and directed two segments of MUNA’s visual album “About U.”

 

Albert is in development on two feature films: Bruisers, with Bruiser writer-director Miles Warren, and Earthquake, with The Chicken writer-director Neo Sora.

Albert edited Bruiser and The Chicken and has cut for media outlets and commercial clients, including CNN Digital, Great Big Story, Google, YouTube and Etsy.

As half of filmmaker-artist duo Zakkubalan, Albert has shown installation and video artwork at the 2019 Singapore Biennale, the 2019 Dojima River Biennale, Watari-um Museum of Contemporary Art, and the 2017 Reborn-Art Festival, among others.
